What is “teeth in a day”? Premier Dental, prepares, makes, and places crowns in ONE visit
Traditionally, restorations such as dental crowns would require at least two visits to the dentist’s office. Not so at our office. Led by Dr. Mauricio Rodriguez, Premier Dental prides itself on having the “latest and safest” technologies and tools on-site to provide all the superior dental treatments and techniques that modern dentistry has to offer. One of the most convenient ways that we stand out from other dentist’s offices in Houston and Webster, Texas, is with the “teeth in a day” or “same day teeth” service. This capability is among the many that we have in-house to accommodate you and your family’s evolving needs. So, there is no need to go to the specialist’s office, at considerable cost and hassle to you.
What do you mean by “teeth in a day”?
If a natural tooth has sustained damage, Dr. Rodriguez may recommend rebuilding the visible part of the tooth above the gumline: the crown. Often, crowns are the finishing touch following root canal therapy to resolve deep decay or damage that affects the innermost pulp tissues of the teeth. The process of getting a new crown has historically involved two separate visits to the dentist’s office:
- First visit: Prepare the natural tooth to “accept” the crown. So, the new crown fits perfectly over the natural tooth structure. Collect information about the tooth that can then be used to make the permanent crown. Place a temporary crown to protect the prepared tooth site.
- Second visit: Remove the temporary crown. Place the permanent crown. Check that it fits well. If all looks and feels great, the crown will be cemented securely into place. Smile!
Now, if the tooth was not exactly to your specifications in the lab, it would have to be re-made. That process would require a third visit to our dentist’s office to place the re-made crown.
At Premier Dental, we have the equipment and knowledge to safely handle every step of the crowns process, precisely, and conveniently – in a single visit. Yes, we can prepare, plan, design, make, refine, and securely place the crown during one appointment. As exacting dental professionals, we at Premier appreciate the ability to have control over the aspect of your crown. This allows us to ensure that the crown is made perfectly to your needs and unique characteristics. Additionally, we stand out from other dentists who use Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) principles to rebuild crowns quickly. We invested in the sophisticated E4D Dentist Chairside CAD/CAM System to skillfully, optimally, and efficiently prepare and make your new and improved tooth structure.
This particular system uses high-speed lasers and a discreet intraoral camera to gently and non-invasively “read” the specifications of your tooth. All information is then inputted into specialized software. This technology renders a 3-Dimensional model of your tooth. This model guides the fabrication of the crown from a block of durable, aesthetic dental porcelain.
